Interoperability at Work: Grid-Interop 2011 Focuses on Implementation

Phoenix, Ariz., Oct. 26, 2011, PR Newswire -- Interoperable Smart Grid applications have moved beyond talk and into real-world technology implementations. More than 100 expert speakers will gather at the fifth annual Grid-Interop in Phoenix, Ariz., Dec. 5-8, to provide insights and lessons learned on interoperability progress and implementations to date.

New in 2011, the Grid-Interop Plug-In will provide a first-of-its-kind demonstration of Smart Grid interoperability in a literal show-and-tell of devices and systems in action – from the utility’s back office to the residential consumer’s thermostat.

The conference’s robust agenda and speaker line-up will cover critical areas of progress:

• Information interoperability: How utilities and vendors are ensuring the accurate and timely flow of information among systems to deliver real benefits.
• Architecture: Innovative architectural models, data management to create business value, the integration of legacy systems, and more.
• Business and policy: Issues involving business processes, regulation, and customer interactions at the highest level of the GridWise Architecture Council’s (GWAC) interoperability stack.
• Cross-cutting issues: Issues that cut across many Smart Grid domains and topics, including cyber security, end-to-end interoperability, and the developing Smart Grid Interoperability Maturity Model.

In fact, for this reason, Grid-Interop was chosen for SGIP’s formational meeting in 2009 and continues to host SGIP meetings today.
