Doug Houseman Anto -The easy answer is NO! There is no one application that can be considered THE reason for smart grid for every electricity user, everywhere in the world. That being said, in almost every case there are between 1 and 3 reasons (applications) that are "No brainers" for why smart grid should be deployed in a specific area. With more than 100 clear applications of smart grid technology, picking through the list to determine which ones make the most sense for a specific deployment can be difficult. In the UK using the "Who Benefits" methodology, the Distribution Netowrk Operators came up with one list of applications they thought were critical to the deployment and the Retailers a different set. Then the Grid Operator for transmission stepped up with yet a different list. So the killer app depends on who you are, where you are, and your specific needs and starting point.
Anto Budiardjo I think technically you are correct, it's like asking what the Killer App is for the Internet, it's so large and does so many things. But won't there emerge a number of key areas, again just like the Internet with email, eCommerce, entertainment and Social Media. Or is SG just one of those areas for the Internet.
