This round table brings together several respected visionaries and implementers of smart grid applications to discuss how private and public events such as the Plug-In at Grid-Interop are necessary to accelerate the successful implementation of smart grid applications through multi-vendor, standards based interoperability.
The panel, moderated by Google Vint Cerf - one of the founders of the Internet through his work on the TCP/IP protocol suite - will discuss the challenges vendors and their utility customers have in realizing the vision of a seamlessly integrated suite of products and systems of systems. The panelists will express their views on how good standards, interoperability agreements, formal testing processes, and physical plug-in events all play a role in achieving this vision.

Face Time is an opportunity for individuals to present interesting, relevant topics as defined by the theme of GridInterop 2011. The Face Time event is designed to augment the exchange of information and increase the opportunity for more individuals to be heard.
Individuals will submit abstracts describing their topic of discussion and/or presentation, much as they would if submitting a paper. However, no formal written paper will be required. Abstracts will be evaluated by the selection committee and chosen based on quality and consistency with the prescribed topics and theme of the conference.
